Find out more about 'Education Research'There is a huge amount of data out there which can be used to understand the experiences of blind and partially sighted students in education. Our Safe Stats report (2024) is an open resource which brings together a snapshot of the available data in one place.
The Safe Stats report (2024) is intended to be a point of reference for the vision impairment (VI) sector. The document includes a list of key terms, key statistics on different areas of VI in education, a section highlighting the gaps in VI research and data, and a section signposting readers to the resources used, as well as to other useful resources.

It is important to note that this report covers data primarily referring to England.
“Data is so valuable in helping us understand what’s happening in education. There are many sources of data out there and it’s often challenging to find the best and most recent data. The Safe Stats report is designed to help surface data more quickly and provide a snapshot of what we know now. At TPT we are making regular reference to the report and hope others in the Sector will find it as useful as we do” – Lucy Merritt, Education Policy Manager at Thomas Pocklington Trust.
