‘Finding Your Voice’ the Nick Elston Way (Episode 3)

On Friday 12th December 2025, motivational speaker Nick Elston returned to deliver an inspiring and highly engaging online public speaking session for our interns, students, job seekers, volunteers, and staff.

Now in its third consecutive year, Nick’s involvement in our Skill Share programme continues to be incredibly impactful. Drawing on his own lived experience of mental illness, Nick delivered a powerful and emotionally honest session that explored confidence, authenticity, and overcoming the fear of public speaking. His approach encouraged blind and partially sighted participants to reframe vulnerability as a strength, helping them shape presentations that are both compelling and true to who they are.

During the session, participants explored a range of practical presentation techniques, including how to use pace, tone, and volume to enhance delivery. Nick also shared accessible, real-world tips to help build confidence and presence when speaking in public. By the end of the session, attendees felt better equipped to express themselves clearly and share their stories with confidence and impact.

Charlie Rashbrook, Internships Coordinator said:

“Nick is a fantastic speaker and once again provoked deeper thinking from the session attendees on all levels. I have received plenty of positive feedback from the interns who attended the session regarding some of the personal actions they wish to take forward after attending. The walk out music playlist, kindly created by Nick, was also a great addition.”

Nick Elston comment:

“Working with the Thomas Pocklington Trust is a real privilege. The engagement from the attendees, of all levels and experiences, is phenomenal. I have had the pleasure of delivering ‘Find Your Voice’ sessions for TPT for many years now and every time the transformation that happens with those who immerse in the tools, is truly humbling to witness. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey!”

“I am absolutely delighted that Nick has supported our Skill Share programme for a third time. He has once again delivered an engaging, thought-provoking session for our interns, staff, and volunteers. ‘Finding Your Voice’ is a truly unique programme, enabling participants to use their lived experiences to speak publicly with confidence. Participants learned so much, and I am sure they are eager to put Nick’s hints and tips into practice!”
