Become a Tech Champion Volunteer

Are you a blind or partially sighted student aged 18 to 23 with a passion for technology and how it can support education? Brilliant, why not become a Tech Champion!

The Education team at Pocklington are assembling a team of student volunteers who can support our work to empower blind and partially sighted students to thrive in education with the use of tech.

As a Tech Champion, you will join a group of other motivated blind and partially sighted students from across the UK to share your experiences, advice and reflections about using technology in education. You will be supported to create engaging and accessible content, such as video, audio or written pieces, aimed at encouraging other blind and partially sighted students to build confidence, awareness and motivation around using technology. Your content will play a key role in our online resources and will be shared across our platforms.

You will also use your voice and lived experience to inform and support our education policy and campaigning work, helping us to bring about positive change for blind and partially sighted students.

A key part of this role is supporting you to build your skills, knowledge and confidence. You will receive practical support to develop your technology skills in addition to other training opportunities. By creating content, collaborating with other Tech Champions and contributing to the project, you can also strengthen your communication, content creation and wider employability skills while gaining valuable experience for the future.

This is a new project, so you will have opportunities to shape how it develops, the topics it explores and the work you and the other Tech Champions produce. It is an online/remote volunteer role, with the potential for occasional in-person meet ups.
