What could you offer in return

From volunteering as a sighted guide or hosting a coffee morning to signing petitions and sharing posts on social media, there are several ways you can be involved and make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

Some opportunities require your skills, and others just need your time, but all our opportunities are flexible so you can fit them around your existing commitments:

Mentoring (commitment of an hour a month for six months)

Be a role model to our interns, students and young people by offering support, advice and guidance. Help them achieve their full potential.

Skill Share (commitment of one to four hours, either online or in-person)

Deliver a short workshop, sharing your knowledge or skills of a particular subject with our interns, students, volunteers and employees at Thomas Pocklington Trust or host an event in your workplace.

Pro-bono Projects (commitment varies depending on project)

We have a variety of opportunities available, ranging from a few days to a couple of months, which would benefit from your particular skills and experience.

Sighted Guide (commitment of 2-4 hours)

With full training provided that you can take back to your workplace, become a sighted guide at our national conference in October, helping delegates at the venue. We also have sighted guide opportunities at our regional events.

Coffee Morning (commitment of two to three hours)

Lessen the impact of social isolation by hosting a coffee morning for blind and partially sighted people in your workplace.

Lunch ‘n’ Learn (commitment of 30 minutes to an hour)

Share your hobbies and passions by hosting a social session at your workplace.

Share a Campaign (10 minutes a month)

Sign our petitions or share our social media posts to support blind and partially sighted people and help change attitudes. Find out more about our campaigns here.
