Organisations Invited to Join Successful Get Set Progress Internship Programme

Date posted: 28th June 2023

The application process for businesses to join Thomas Pocklington Trust’s Get Set Progress internship programme is now open.

Thomas Pocklington Trust (TPT) is collaborating with RNIB to create twenty-five new paid internship opportunities for blind and partially sighted people. They are inviting businesses across the country to apply.

The window for organisations to be part of this next round of internships is open and organisations will need to submit their proposed intern role with an accompanying job description.

Internships are full-time (36 hours a week) for nine months and have a salary based on the real living wage from the Living Wage Foundation. The internships are designed to be development opportunities and each intern has a dedicated training plan, receives a mentor and intensive employability support to provide a meaningful experience.

This year we are providing up to 50% of funding towards the salary cost.

TPT has run a programme of paid internships since 2015. 85% of interns on the Get Set Progress scheme have gone on to secure employment within six months.

Josh Feehan, Head of Internships at TPT said: “After the successful roll out of the Internship programme across the Sight Loss sector this year, we are now keen to expand the programme into the corporate and broader voluntary sector.”

The last tranche, launched in January, appointed twenty-three interns in sight loss charities across the country. Previous roles have included Finance, Marketing, Communications and Customer Services. If you have an exciting opportunity you would like to recruit into your business, why not consider taking part in the programme.
