The Student Support Service Attend Sight Village Central 2023

Date posted: 24th July 2023

Last week, three members of our Education team attended Sight Village Central at Eastside Rooms in Birmingham.

Sight Village is an exhibition that invites blind/partially sighted people, their families and professionals in the sight loss sector to discover how they can be supported by the latest assistive technology, and through the work of sight loss organisations like us!

Aaron, Emily and Peter from our Education team were there promoting our Student Support Service, as well as our brand-new Education technology webpages. The team informed both students and professionals about the work of our service and how they can access it. Our stand was really busy and we met many attendees, had valuable conversations, gained new referrals and members joining our Student Support Community on Facebook, bringing the group’s total to over 300 members!

Student Support Advisor, Aaron commented:

“I enjoyed attending Sight Village as it gave us the opportunity to go out amongst the many students and professionals who could benefit from our service and demonstrate the difference our support can make to blind and partially sighted students”.

Peter, our Education Technology Coordinator, said:

“Attending Sight Village Central was really beneficial. We were able to introduce a lot of people to our education offer for the first time and it was very pleasing to see the positive impact this had on so many attendees – from students, to support professionals and those looking for some impartial technology advice provided by our new education technology resources”.

If you missed us at Sight Village Central, don’t worry! We’ll be at the next Sight Village event, Sight Village South-West at the Sandy Park Conference Centre in Exeter on 26th September. We’ll also be attending Sight Village South-East at Kensington Town Hall in London on the 7th of November.
