Volunteering at TPT is a meaningful way for people with lived experience (and others) to contribute to our vision, mission and aims.
Our opportunities offer the chance to gain experience in campaigning and advocacy, whilst helping to change the world for blind and partially sighted people.
Here at TPT, we have several types of volunteers working on exciting projects, both locally and nationally, with our biggest role being ‘Sight Loss Council member’. But we also have roles for Young Voices, Student Voices and Sighted Guides.
Our volunteering primarily focuses on championing the needs and aspirations of blind and partially sighted people across themes such as Transport, Health and the Built Environment. Our Sight Loss Councils also campaign in retail, sport and arts and culture, whilst our Student Voices campaign for a more accessible education for people who are visually impaired.

Volunteering for us holds many benefits that are useful for yourself and for others. For example, our volunteers often report gaining new skills, increased confidence and the satisfaction of being able to ‘give back to society’.
Please note that currently, the majority of our volunteering roles require people to be blind or partially sighted.
However, we do require Sighted guides from time to time and to carry out this role, you need to be sighted.
