Listening Month 2022 – thank you for your support

Date posted: 6th December 2022

November 2022 was our first official ‘Listening Month’ which saw Sight Loss Councils and Thomas Pocklington Trust reach out to blind and partially sighted people across to country to ask: ‘What matters to you?

Listening Month was our opportunity to speak not just to our Sight Loss Council, Student Voices and Young Voices volunteers, but to as many blind and partially sighted people as possible.

Through a programme of in-person and online activities and events across the country, as well as our keystone national survey, more than 1,000 people have taken part in Listening Month. This makes it our largest outreach campaign ever.

Our theme, ‘What matters to you?‘, was chosen to encourage blind and partially sighted people to tell us what issues are important to them. We will produce a detailed report in the new year from the feedback we’ve received. This will be made publicly available so you can read about the key issues that came up.

The views and the feedback we received during Listening Month will help us to shape our future campaigns and wider work in the coming year. We will also share the findings with organisations, government and partners to improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people that they support.

Mike Bell, Head of Public Affairs and Campaigns at Thomas Pocklington Trust said: “We would like to thank everyone who participated in Listening Month – not just those who submitted their views, but those who shared this with friends and contacts too. We’d also like to thank our colleagues at Thomas Pocklington Trust and Sight Loss Councils who led the way during Listening Month by organising and hosting events, reaching out to sector partners and for their tireless efforts to make sure the voice of blind and partially sighted people is heard.”

Although Listening Month has now formally ended, there is still time to fill out the national survey by clicking the link below.
